It’s only a little over a week until the marquee event on this year’s Jackson Motorplex schedule as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series visits next week.
The 45th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals powered by FENDT runs Thursday, Aug. 17 through Saturday, Aug. 19.
The World of Outlaws tripleheader features the same format as last year with drivers accumulating points throughout a full World of Outlaws program the first two nights. The combined point total sets the stage for the $25,000-to-win finale on Saturday.
Carson Macedo is the defending event champion after Logan Schuchart won in both 2020 and 2021. Brad Sweet captured the title in 2017 and 2019, with Donny Schatz winning in 2018.
Support divisions will be the Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Car Series Thursday and Friday and the Upper Midwest Renegades Sprint Car Series on Saturday.
Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. each night.
Knoxville 360 Nationals
Brian Brown (Grain Valley, Mo.) executed a pass coming for the checkers Saturday at the 33rd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals.
Brown won by two-hundredths of a second over Aaron Reutzel (Clute, Tex.), who had led the first 30 laps. Brown earned $20,000 plus $500 for leading the last lap.
Ironically, Reutzel pocketed $25,000 for leading the first 30 laps and finishing second.
The win earned Brown the big trophy as 360 Nationals champion for the second time as he also won this event in 2014. It was his 19th 360 win at Knoxville.
Kaleb Johnson (Sioux Falls) finished 18th in the A Main. Skylar Prochaska (Lakefield) was 15th in the B Main.
Knoxville 410 Nationals
The Knoxville 410 Nationals start Wednesday and run through Saturday.
Three drivers with ties to the region will qualify on Wednesday, Brooke Tatnell (Sans Souci, NSW, Australia), David Gravel (Watertown, Conn.) and Justin Henderson, Tea, S.D.).
Gravel and the Big Game Motorsports team unveiled a new paint scheme on Tuesday:
Gravel placed second at Knoxville last year, his best finish since winning in 2019.
Qualifying on Thursday will be Matt Wasmund (Jackson), Cody Ihlen (Pipestone), along with Kaleb Johnson, Dusty Zomer and Clint Garner (Sioux Falls).
Defending champion Donny Schatz (Fargo) qualifies on Wednesday.
