Jackson Motorplex and Fairmont Raceway were both scheduled to open their season this weekend.
Officials in Jackson called off their season opener earlier this week, while Fairmont pulled the plug late this morning.
Jackson
Less than ideal weather, an unfavorable forecast and recent wind damage forced Jackson Motorplex officials to postpone the start of their season.
The track has sustained damage to fencing, signage and speakers in the past few weeks.
Friday’s Tweeter Contracting and Boji Spudz Night featuring the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Midwest Power Series sprint cars was scheduled for May 20.
The event will pay $3,000 to win for the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Midwest Power Series sprint cars and a $3,000 bonus if that same driver can win the 360 feature at Knoxville Raceway the next night.
The Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Cars will also be in action on May 20.
Saturday’s Altenburg Construction IMCA Shootout was also postponed. No makeup date has been set for that event, which was to feature IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA sport mods, IMCA hobby stocks and IMCA sport compacts.
The season opener for Jackson Motorplex is now scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, when the first round of the Bank Midwest IMCA Series competition features IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA sport mods, IMCA hobby stocks and IMCA sport compacts.
Fairmont
Tonight's Frost Buster at Fairmont Raceway was called off late this morning.
A decision on rescheduling has not been made.
As of now, the next event at the track is scheduled for Wednesday, May 11.

This year’s Hall of Fame classes for both Jackson and Fairmont were announced recently.

Fairmont’s inductees will be honored during the races on Wednesday, June 15.
The Jackson Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday June 18 at the AGCO Intivity Center.
MSTS
Friday’s event at Jackson was scheduled to be the season opener for the Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
The MSTS is now scheduled to open Saturday, May 7 at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D.
There are also events at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. on May 13 and Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Neb. May 14 before the rescheduled event at Jackson on May 20.
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson of Sioux Falls was pleased with the speed he showed last Saturday despite an unfortunate ending to the season opener at Knoxville Raceway.
Johnson qualified in the top five and moved forward during his heat race before a storm arrived once the feature started at the half-mile oval, postponing the remainder of the race to a date that hasn’t been announced.
“The main thing was we took a car we’d never raced and it did well,” he said. “We bought it over the winter. It’s pretty much the same as our other two cars, but sometimes you try things with one car and it doesn’t transition. The car was really good and it had good speed.”
Johnson plans to run at Knoxville Raceway again on Saturday.
Gravel returns to Bristol
Big Game Motorsports driver David Gravel has had this weekend circled on the calendar since the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series schedule was released.
Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn., hosts the World of Outlaws Bristol Bash on Friday and Saturday. It’s an event that Gravel swept last year, winning both the preliminary night and the $25,000-to-win finale.
Gravel posted his 12th top-10 outing of the season last Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Granite City, Ill., where he qualified third quickest, placed third in a heat race and advanced from ninth to sixth in the main event.
The Watertown, Conn. driver is third in the WoO point standings.
Brad Sweet (Grass Valley, Calif.) leads Carson Macedo (Lemoore, Calif.) by 44 points and Gravel by 56.
