Brandon Halverson of Jackson started his racing season Saturday night as he drove the 13MJ 360 sprint car at Knoxville Raceway.
Halverson finished eighth in his heat race, which was won by the legendary Sammy Swindwell. Brandon was then 12th in the B Main.
Kaleb Johnson of Sioux Falls had some tough luck in the 410 class.
Johnson was 17th in time trials piloted the 22K to a heat race win and had motor mechanical failure on the last lap. He wasn’t able to start the A Main.
Brian Brown of Grain Valley, Mo. recorded his 61st career win at Knoxville as he moves past Doug Wolfgang into second place on the all-time win list at the historic track on the Marion County Fairgrounds.

IMCA shows
IMCA drivers have three straight nights of events locally as the two-night Clay County Classic starts tonight and concludes Monday at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer.
The final night in Spencer is highlighted by a $5,000 to win - $500 to start IMCA Stock Car feature.
IMCA Modifieds will pay $1,000 to win; IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Hobby Stocks are both $500 to win and IMCA Sport Compacts pay $200 to win.
Tuesday is the $5,000-to-win IMCA Stock Car Challenge to highlight Altenburg Construction Night in the first night of racing this season at Jackson Motorplex.
IMCA Hobby Stocks will also be part of the program featuring a special $750-to-win A Main.
Deer Creek
Some local drivers made the trip to southeastern Minnesota to run at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley Saturday night.
Two locals competed in the USRA Stock Car class.
Chance Larson (Dunnell) was sixth in the feature after finishing fifth in the first heat; and Andrew Gerhardt (Sherburn) placed 14th in the feature after a sixth-place showing in the third heat.
Parker Anderson (Welcome) placed fourth in the USRA Hobby Stock feature after winning his heat race.
Huset’s
Everything looks good to go for Huset’s Speedway to open its season tonight after getting weathered out last week.
On the schedule are the Cressman Sanitation 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars, the Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Car Series and the Nordstrom’s Automotive Late Model Street Stocks.

Fairmont
Fairmont Raceway had its second night of racing Friday.
Lyle Sathoff of Sherburn won the C&B Operations Modified feature, with Josh Ruby (Lakota) second and Cole Anderson (Le Center) third.
Ruby and Jeff Ignaszewski (Wells) won heat races.
Winning the State Bank of Fairmont Stock Car feature was Derek Green (Granada). Jeff Lyon (Duncombe, Iowa) was second and Chance Larson (Dunnell).
Lyon and Green won the heat races.
Kullen Kath (Owatonna) was first in the Nutrien Ag B-Mods feature, followed by Jared Boumeester (Waseca) and Michael Meyer (New Richland).
Winning the heat races were Boumeester and Cole Bennerotte (Byron).
Jeremy Crimmins (Fort Dodge) was the winner of the Finke Excavating Hobby Stocks feature, with Parker Larson (Lewisville) second and Gavin Bussinger (Granada) third.
Crimmins and Greg Sidles (Fairmont) won the heat races.
Claiming the top spot in the Extreme Powdercoating Tuners feature was Oliver Monson (Thornton, Iowa) with Dale Gatton (Fairmont) second and Slade Fitzgerald (Dunnell) third.
Monson won the lone heat race.
