Hobie Hedquist has had a hot stretch in goal for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey.
On Friday the Heron Lake native made 32 saves as the Bulldogs won 5-0 over the Langley Rivermen. It was Hedquist’s second shutout of the season and his seventh with the Bulldogs, setting a franchise record.
He received the Number One Star of the Game for his efforts.
Hedquist followed that up on Saturday by stopping 25 of 26 shots in a 4-1 victory over the Surrey Eagles.
In his last three games, the University of North Dakota commit has stopped 86 of 88 shots on goal, good for a .977 save percentage.
For the season, Hedquist has played in 25 games, has a 14-10-1 record with a save percentage of .909 and goals against average of 2.92.
The Bulldogs are in sixth place in the BCHL’s nine-team Coastal Division with a 16-15-2 record.
Alberni Valley and the rest of the BCHL now have the All-Star break. Next on the schedule for the Bulldogs is home-and-home set with the Victoria Grizzlies Jan. 27-28.
