GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Four days after joining the Cincinnati organization, Martin County West graduate Brandon Williamson made his debut for the Reds at Goodyear Ballpark Friday.
Williamson was the second pitcher used by Cincinnati and was not involved in the decision in a 3-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians at the Spring Training facility the teams share.
He pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits, walking two and striking out two.
Here’s his first strikeout:
Reds’ Manager David Bell was pleased.
“He has a confident, nice presence on the mound. He has really good stuff. When he needed it, he hit 94, 93 (mph). Good first outing.”
Williamson was acquired by Cincinnati Monday in a trade with the Seattle Mariners, who selected him in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
