
Martin County had two finalists including one champion at the Redwood River Riot wrestling tournament in Redwood Falls.
Pierce Rohman, rated fourth at 127 pounds in Class 2A, won five matches as he won the 133-pound title and was named Outstanding Wrestler of the 34-team tournament.
Rohman won by tech fall, fall and major decision in his first three matches and then won decisions over a pair of state-ranked wrestlers.
In the semifinals he won 3-2 over Wyatt Novitzki of Holdingford, rated fourth at 133 pounds in Class 1A. Rohman won the championship match 6-3 over Tri-City United’s Tucker Skluzacek, ranked ninth at 139 in Class 2A.
Rohman is now 15-1 on the season.
Torrey Paplow, ranked fourth at 139 in Class 2A, finished second at 145. He had a bye and then won two matches by tech fall.
Paplow won by fall in 4:16 over Class 1A 145 third-ranked Benito Diaz of Sibley East in the semifinals. In the finals, Paplow lost by disqualification to Class 1A 145 second-ranked Masyn Patrick of Holdingford.
Paplow is 13-1.
The next competition for the Red Bulls is Friday, Jan. 3 when they host a triangular with Red Rock Central and Worthington.
