Brandon Williamson is expected to be on the mound tonight (Tuesday) as he begins a Major League Baseball rehab assignment for the Cincinnati Reds’ High-A Dayton Dragons as they host the Great Lakes Loons.
The Martin County West graduate will be back on the mound after suffering a shoulder strain during spring training that kept him off the mound for the first six weeks of the season.
In 11 innings over four outings this spring the left hander allowed eight runs. His last outing came nearly two full months ago - on March 17 - when he left a game after just two innings.
Williamson made his MLB debut almost one year ago – on May 16, 2023, in Denver vs. the Colorado Rockies.
He made 23 starts for the Reds and had a 5-5 record with a 4.46 earned run average in 117 innings while walking 39 and striking out 98. In his last 15 starts from the start of July through the end of the season he threw 78.1 innings with a 3.79 ERA, 22 walks, and 69 strikeouts.
Pitchers can utilize up to 30 days on a rehab assignment before a decision must be made by a club.
