Lacey Reitz will end her senior season with the Northwestern College volleyball team the same way she has ended her first three seasons in a Red Raider uniform. Playing in the NAIA Championships in Sioux City.
Actually, one thing will be different. Her last name.
She played in those first three tournaments as Lacey Wacker. That changed when she married Austin Reitz in June of 2020.
Lacey celebrates a Northwestern point at the 2019 national tournament.
The Jackson County Central graduate and Northwestern begin pool play on Tuesday at the Tyson Events Center.
The Red Raiders, 20-4, are paired with Corban of Oregon (13-4) and Oklahoma City University (15-2).
Northwestern has advanced out of pool play in each of its last three appearances in the national tournament. The Red Raiders lost in the quarterfinals of the last tournament in 2019 after losing in the first round of bracket play the two previous seasons.
Reitz is fourth in the country among NAIA Division I setters in assists per set with 11.3. She's seventh in total assists with 958 in 85 sets.
She was named a first-team all-American by both the NAIA and AVCA last season in 2019 and a third-team choice by the NAIA in 2018. In 2017, she was named AVCA Region Freshman of the Year.
