ORANGE CITY – Jackson County Central graduate Lacey (Wacker) Reitz has been named an assistant volleyball coach at Northwestern College.
She’s also a Northwestern grad and was a four-year starter for the Raiders.
Lacey is the daughter of Wade and Stacey Wacker of Jackson. Her husband, Austin, also graduated from Northwestern and serves as an assistant coach with the Raider men's golf program.
"The culture and presence of the Holy Spirit is what makes Northwestern special,” Lacey said. “Every person you encounter will push you to be better, and every day your relationship with God grows stronger. I can't wait to use my passion for both volleyball and Jesus Christ to help young women grow in their faith and prepare them for the lives that God has called them to live."
With the Raiders, she was a three-year American Volleyball Coaches Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics all-American.
Reitz tallied more than 5,000 assists in her Northwestern career. She is second in program history in career assists as one of only two Raiders to reach the 5,000-assist mark in their careers.
She was a part of a program that started the current five-year run to the NAIA final site.
The Raiders had a record of 110-22 for a winning percentage of .833 in her four years at Northwestern, winning two Great Plains Athletic Conference championships.
Her efforts in the classroom were also recognized as she was a two-time College Sports Information Directors of American Academic all-American (2019, 2020), including a spot on the first team as a senior in 2020.
"We are excited to add Lacey to our coaching staff,” said Northwestern head coach Kyle Van Den Bosch. “Obviously being a former player in our program she knows our culture so well. Lacey has a great mind for the game, sees the game at a high level already, and is a great student of the game."
