After starting the week with a split of a pair of road games, the Jackson County Central baseball team is home for two games on Thursday.
The Huskies started the week with a 7-3 win at Worthington.
JCC scored in the top of the first when Ben Gallagher doubled and scored on a Gage Johnson single. The Trojans took the lead with two in the home half of the inning.
The Huskies would eventually take the lead back with single runs in three consecutive innings.
In the fourth, Johnson singled, stole second and scored on a Jace Jorgensen single to tie it 2-2.
JCC took a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Haiden Warmka walked and eventually scored on a double steal. It became 4-2 in the sixth as Gallagher hit his second double of the game, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.
Worthington scored one in the bottom sixth, but the Huskies opened some space with a three-run seventh. Kash Gilbert had an RBI single, and Carson Kolander delivered a two-run hit.
Talan Holm went six innings, allowing three runs (one earned), walking two and striking out three. Gilbert put the Trojans down in order in the seventh to seal the win.
On Tuesday the Huskies lost 10-0 in five innings to Class 2A No. 4 Fairmont at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont.
The Cardinals’ Joe Long limited JCC to one hit and two base runners.
Carson Doescher singled with one out in the third inning and Gallagher walked to lead off the fourth.
Long struck out 10 Huskies. He also had three hits, and two runs batted in at the plate.
Levi Thompson went 3.2 innings for JCC, with Gilbert getting the final out of the frame.
Jackson County Central, 5-12, plays two at Wacker Field Thursday. The Huskies play Hayfield (11-7) at 4:30 p.m. and Class 1A top-ranked Springfield (13-3) at about 7 p.m.
