A pair of short road trips in opposite directions on I-90 is how the Jackson County Central baseball team will start the week.
The Huskies head 30 minutes west Monday to face Worthington at the Worthington Middle School Field and then head a half-hour east on Tuesday to take on Fairmont at Herb Wolf Field.
JCC is 4-11 after a 5-2 loss to Windom Thursday at Wacker Field. The Eagles scored four runs in the first inning and added another in the fourth to lead 5-0. The Huskies scored one in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Gage Johnson started on the mound and allowed four runs two-thirds of an inning before Carson Doescher came on and gave up only one run in the final six and one-third.
Kash Gilbert, Ben Gallagher and Thomas Liepold had two hits apiece for JCC. Carson Kolander and Jace Jorgensen each had a double, while Talan Holm and Haiden Warmka each had a hit.
The game at Worthington is a makeup game from early in the season. The Trojans are 2-10 and are on their second five-game losing streak. They opened with a win over Redwood Valley, lost five straight before beating Waseca and have now lost five in a row.
Class 2A fourth-ranked Fairmont is 13-1 and has won 12 straight since its lone loss, 6-2 to No. 2 Esko. The Cardinals were 13-4 winners over the Huskies at Wacker Field on April 22.
