WORTHINGTON – The Jackson Bulls were 15-1 winners over the Worthington Cubs in amateur baseball Sunday.
Jackson scored two runs in each of the first and second innings and added another in the third for a 5-0 lead. Worthington scored its run in the sixth inning before the Bulls sent 15 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs in the ninth inning.
Easton Bahr and Andy Wolf, the first two batters in the Jackson lineup, both reached base five times. Bahr had two hits, walked three times and had two runs batted in, while Wolf had two hits, walked twice and reached on an error.
Evan Olesen was on base four times on a hit, two walks and a hit by pitch and Chris Gumto also reached four times as he drew three walks and got on by an error.
Shad Wacker had a hit, walked twice and had two RBI; and Mason Pohlman had two hits and walked once.
Ben Spaeth and Blaise Jacobsen each had a hit for the Bulls; Kevin Holm and Leighton Polz each picked up an RBI by being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded; and Scott Bahr had an RBI groundout.
Ryan Rasche was the winning pitcher, going seven innings allowing one run on four hits, not walking a batter and striking out nine. Pat Boggess and Sean Minder each pitched an inning.
On Friday, Jackson lost 21-0 at Luverne. Rasche and Nate Monson had hits.
The Bulls have a stretch of three home games in five days ahead, hosting Hadley at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Larchwood in a non-league game at 2 p.m. Saturday, and Lakefield at 2 p.m. Sunday.
