Ruthton scored five runs in the first inning and went on to beat Lakefield 11-1 in eight innings in the second game of their amateur baseball playoff series Friday.
The Frogs scored their only run in the third inning as Nolan Luhmann doubled to score Taylor Christopher, who had reached on an error. The Royals scored two in the sixth and ended the game with a four-run eighth inning.
Jared Bakalyar also doubled for Lakefield. Dustin Pronk and Christopher also had hits for the Frogs.
Phil Pronk pitched the first seven innings and took the loss. Andrew Hesebeck pitched the eighth inning.
Game Three will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stan King Field in Lakefield.
