It's Saturday night, Maren and the other Nelson sisters (Lucretia and Frona) are on the porch playing cards and really don't care what I do, so I'm on the computer with my own refreshment sending out a newsletter. Haven't a Long Island Iced Tea since my days living in North Dakota when there was a group of us that would have too many Long Island Iced Teas. But that's a story for another time, although not necessarily shared here.
Got home a while ago from Wacker Field, where the Jackson Bulls were 9-4 winners over the Milroy Yankees.
Ryan Rasche picked up his 73rd career win six days after tying Tom Hady for the top spot at Lakefield. After the game was one of those great townball scenes that you can see at the top of this newsletter as Ryan was dragging the field.
Talked with Ryan and manager Scott after the game so be looking for that newsletter in the morning.
Also, I visited with Blaise Jacobsen, who caught and had a couple of hits in the Bulls game after coaching the Jackson Legion baseball team in the sub-state tournament earlier in the day. Post 130 lost to end its season. Be looking for that newsletter as well.
The Bulls play again tomorrow, hosting Adrian at 2 p.m. In addition to the game, there will be a concession stand, music, a P.A. announcer who hasn't done that it a couple years so be patient with him, a check presentation, a guest throwing out the first pitcher, a national anthem singer, face painting and maybe even more.
The JCC Pony League team was playing after the Bulls tonight. Hopefully I'll have something on that too.
Also, there are a number of local wrestlers competing in the national tournament in Fargo. It looks like the Flat Earth Wrestling Club's Facebook page is doing a good job with updates on those guys. We'll try to tie all that up as the week progresses.
And if you're wondering about the headline to this newsletter, it's a song a Scottish band called the Bay City Rollers recorded in 1973 and became No. 1 in the U.S. in 1976. Go to Wikipedia or Youtube.
For now, I'm getting back to my refreshment. More in the morning. Probably.
