JACKSON - Nine area graduates have been named as scholarship winners from the Federated Rural Electric Trust.
One $700 scholarship was awarded in each of the six Federated districts, plus three more to the son or daughter of a Federated member for District At-Large where remaining applicants had a second chance to win.
Here are the recipients from each district. Listed are name, hometown, high school and parents.
District 1: Calvin Stumpf, Lakefield, Heron Lake-Okabena, Jeff and Alison.
District 2: Carson Schneekloth, Jackson, Jackson County Central, Kent and Jo.
District 3: Reese Adkins, Jackson, Jackson County Central, Sara.
District 4: Morgan Curtis, Sherburn, Martin County West, Chad and Sara.
District 5: Gavin Rodning, Fairmont, Fairmont, Ole and Katie.
District 6: Alyssa Wiederhoeft, Northrop, Martin Luther, David and Heather.
At-Large District: Jacob Moeller, Fairmont, Granada- Huntley-East Chain, Brent and Karen.
At-Large District: Kolton Fritz, Fairmont, Fairmont, Daniel and Sheri.
At-Large District: Keenan Ambrose, Jackson, Jackson County Central, Justin and Erin.
A total of 33 students completed Federated’s short scholarship application. This is the 20th year of the program.
"The $6,300 worth of scholarships comes from Operation Round Up funds," said Federated Trust Board President Stuart Smart. "This is a charitable giving program where participating Federated members’ electric bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar amount. The extra cents go to a special trust fund administered by an independent Trust Board. In addition, unclaimed capital credits are a part of these scholarships."
This is the 32nd consecutive year that Federated has dedicated money to high school scholarships. This is the 27th year of Operation Round Up scholarships. They total $140,900.
Federated is a Touchstone Energy cooperative that provides electric service to more than 6,800 members in Jackson and Martin Counties.
