Luverne scored three goals in a little more than five minutes of the third period to pull away from Windom Area for a 5-2 win in the quarterfinals of the Section 3A boys hockey tournament Friday at Blue Mound Ice Arena in Luverne.
The Eagles got on the board first as Sonny Heil scored with an assist going to Wriley Haugen at 13:24 of the opening period to lead 1-0 after one.
Luverne scored twice in the second frame and then the three goals in the third put the Cardinals ahead 5-1.
Windom Area scored late as Brady Espenson scored unassisted at 16:09 of the third.
Adam Dahna made 48 saves for the Eagles, who put 15 shots on Cardinal netminder Tyler Arends.
Windom Area concludes its season with a 11-15 record.
