Sauk Centre bounced back after dropping the first set to beat Jackson County Central 3-1 in the championship match of the state Class 2A volleyball tournament Saturday at Xcel Energy Center.
Set scores were 13-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-19.
The Mainstreeters scored first in the opening set but the Huskies scored the next five points and kept pulling away.
Sauk Centre had a 4-0 lead in the second set but JCC would come back to tie the score at 10-10. The Mainstreeters led 18-12, the Huskies would close the gap to 23-21, but SC would put the set away to even the match.
The third set was tied at 14-14, 15-15 and 16-14, but Sauk Centre then went on a run of five points for a 21-16 advantage. The Huskies stopped that run but the Mainstreeters ran off four straight points to lead the match 2-1.
SC led 4-0 in the fourth set but again Jackson County Central would rally to tie the score at 10-10. The Mainstreeters ran off five straight points and then built a 21-12 lead for the Huskies rallied to within 22-1`9.
Sauk Centre scored the final three points to take the match.
Senior Sadie Voss had a double-double in her final volleyball match for the Huskies with 22 kills and 26 digs. She’s headed to play at the University of Sioux Falls next year.
Maci Farmer, a junior, had 50 assists for JCC.
Jackson County Central finishes the season with a 29-7 record.
