Class 2A fourth-ranked Jackson County Central opens the second half of its football schedule Friday with a game at South (Central-Silver) District and Section 3AA rival Redwood Valley Friday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Inglis Field.
The Huskies have outscored their opponents 230-21 in starting the season 4-0. The Cardinals are 3-1 as they won their first three before losing at Pipestone last week.
JCC is coached by Tom Schuller, who is 11th in career wins in the state among active coaches with a 215-54 record.
Redwood is coached by Matt Lundeen, son of Minnesota Football Coaches Association Hall of Famer Dwight Lundeen, who is the lone head coach in the history of Becker High School, which opened in 1970.
Dwight is second among active coaches in wins and has a record of 403-167-3. He trails only Verndale’s Mike Mahlen, who is 435-133-3.
First since 2021
Friday will mark the first time JCC has played at Redwood since 2021.
The teams played their regular-season game in Redwood Falls in 2021 in the first year of the two-year schedule rotation and the Huskies hosted the Cardinals in the Section 3AA semifinals. In the second year of the rotation in 2022, JCC hosted in the regular season and then played at home vs. the Cardinals in the section semifinals.
Jackson County Central hosted Redwood Valley in the first year of the new rotation in 2023 and the teams met in the Section 3AA championship game in Marshall.

Salute to service
Jackson County Central schools and the JCC football team will salute active service personnel and veterans of the Armed Forces at next week’s game vs. Minnesota Valley Lutheran.
The date and time for that game was changed. It will be a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday, Oct. 4 after originally being scheduled for that Saturday.
Veterans and active duty Armed Forces personnel will receive free admission and will be recognized at the game.
