PORT ALBERNI, B.C. - Hobie Hedquist has been named a second team all-star in the British Columbia Hockey League.
The Heron Lake native, a member of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, played more minutes than any other BCHL goaltender during the regular season with 2,470.
He tied for most wins in the league, compiling 28-9 record.
Hedquist was also second in shutouts with five, sixth in goals against average (2.53) 10th in save percentage (.909).
He’s also a perfect 4-0 in the playoffs as Alberni Valley swept the Cowichan Valley Capitals in their best-of-seven Coastal Conference quarterfinal series.
The Bulldogs will now play the Langley Rivermen in the conference semifinals, hosting the first two games of the series tonight and Saturday.
Hedquist has committed to play college hockey at North Dakota. He’s ranked as the No. 23 goaltender in North America by Central Scouting ahead of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
