Coaches in the Jackson County Central track and field program are going to be kept busy during Saturday’s Section 2A track and field meet at Todnem Field at Mankato West High School.
The Huskies will have a total of 42 entries in the meet, 28 on the girls side and 14 for the boys.
Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin qualified 13 entries for the meet, nine boys and four girls.
The top two finishers in every event automatically qualify for the state meet next Thursday and Friday at St. Michael-Albertville High School. Entries can also advance to the state meet by meeting a qualifying standard in each event.
Rylie Cother is seeded high in three events. The seeded are based on results from last week’s sub-section meets.
Cother is seeded first in the 100-meter hurdles, third in long jump and tied for fourth in high jump. Her JCC teammate, Emma Haren, is also part of a four-way tie for the fourth spot in the high jump.
Elsa Landherr is seeded first in triple jump and also seeded fourth in the 800 meters.
JCC’s Peyton Hanson is seeded second in pole vault for the section meet and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
Jackson County Central also has two relay teams with high seeds.
The 4x200 team of Daysia Tomlin, Kendra Haar, Natalia Botello-Ramos and Elsa Landherr are seeded second and the 4x100 team of Tomlin, Haar, Adyson VanWesten and Botello-Ramos is seeded third.
Also having a number four seed for the Huskies is Maci Farmer, who is fourth in triple jump.
For the JCC boys, Caleb Vancura is seeded first in shot out and third in discus. Quinn Landherr tied for the best qualifying effort in pole vault.
Gabe Wolff is the second seed in the 100 meters and is scheduled to anchor two Huskies relay teams that are seeded second.
Running the first three legs of the 4x100 team are Alex Koster, Clay Malchow and Ben Dahlin, while running on the 4x200 unit are Malchow, Dahlin and Quinn Landherr.
