Jackson County Central is part of a 23-team field for the Section 3A cross country meet Thursday in Luverne. The girls race is at 4 p.m. with the boys scheduled for 4:40.
The girls race features a number of rated teams and runners from the latest polls by the Minnesota Cross Country Coaches Association.
Host Luverne was fourth in the girls team ratings, Murray County Central/Fulda is fifth, Canby/Minneota 10th and Redwood Valley received votes.
There were four ranked girls runners.
Senior Amanda Overgaauw of Murray County Central/Fulda was first, junior Jenna DeBates of Luverne third, senior Ashley Overgaauw of MCC/Fulda fourth and sophomore Kaylee Walkin of Windom Area seventh.
There were two rated boys teams with Luverne fifth and Redwood Valley eighth.
Two boys runners were ranked with Redwood’s Will Ahrens fifth and Luverne’s Owen Janiszeski sixth. Both are sophomores.
The top two teams and the top six individual finishers who are not members of a qualifying team will advance to the state meet from each race.
The state meet is Saturday, Nov. 5 at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
