Blake Jagodzinske is seeded fifth at 157 pounds for the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships Friday and Saturday at LaCrosse Center in LaCrosse.
A junior at Augsburg University, Jagodzinske qualified for his first national tournament by placing second in the Upper Midwest Regional in Stevens Point, Wis.
Jagodzinske, a Martin County West graduate, has a 16-6 record for the season with seven pins, a technical fall and four major decisions. He is 60-14 in his college career.
Two of his wins this season have come over NCAA qualifiers including a victory over last year’s national runner-up at 149 pounds, Javen Estrada of North Central College.
Last season, Jagodzinske had a record of 31-4 with wins over three national qualifiers, but was wrestling behind Tyler Shilson, who was the NCAA runner-up at 157.
Jagodzinke’s first match at the national tournament will be vs. Wenchard Pierre-Louis of Ithaca College.
Pierre-Louis is also a junior. He is competing in his second national tourney and has a record of 17-6.
