Cincinnati Reds pitcher Brandon Williamson is being returned to the parent club from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville and will remain on the 60-day injured list. The move was announced this (Friday) afternoon.
Williamson will be shut down from throwing for at least seven days and the team is evaluating his potential options, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The Martin County West graduate has had persistent issues with his shoulder, and he'll stop throwing entirely for at least a brief period.
Williamson has yet to pitch for the Reds this season due to a shoulder sprain.
Williamson threw four shutout innings Sunday and allowed just one hit in his last rehab start with Triple-A Louisville. He’s made three appearances with the Bats and one with High-A Dayton.
He’s allowed only one run in his 13.2 innings pitched while walking three and striking out 11.
