Martin County West is 5-0 to start the football season for the second straight year after shutting out New Ulm Cathedral 43-0 at Johnson Field in New Ulm Friday. The 2013 Mavericks also won their first five games.
Six players scored touchdowns for the Mavericks.
Wyatt Williamson caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Zach Anderson in the first quarter and Joseph Forsberg ran 72 yards for a score in the second.
In the third quarter, Anderson rushed in from five yards out and Riley Allen blocked a Greyhound punt and fell on it in the end zone for a score. In the final period, Rylan Cutler scored from three yards out and Berent Kosbab scored on a 19-yard run.
Williamson kicked the extra point after the first five touchdowns and Cam Meyer rushed for the two-point conversion after the final TD.
Forsberg led MCW in rushing with 130 yards on 15 carries.
Max Olson had six tackles and three quarterback sacks for Martin County West. Williamson, Cutler and Cody Potts each had five tackles. Allen posted four tackles and two quarterback sacks, while Forsberg and Carver Rohman also had four tackles.
The Mavericks host Murray County Central (4-1) in their homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday in Sherburn.
