Huskies move up; Mavericks crack Top 10
Jackson County Central has jumped to sixth in the latest Class 2A ratings by the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association and Martin County West has made the Class 1A Top 10 for the first time at No. 7.
The Huskies are 21-3 and will play Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in the finals of the Section 3AA tournament Thursday in Marshall. The Tigers are among the other teams receiving votes.
JCC is the final unbeaten team in the tournament, while MACA has one loss.
Randolph is again the Class 2A leader.
Martin County West (21-4) faces top-ranked United South Central (22-0) in the Section 2A finals at Caswell Park in North Mankato Thursday. USC defeated MCW earlier in the tournament.
Big South Conference champion New Ulm is ranked third in Class 3A and is the final undefeated team in the Section 2AAA tournament will face top-ranked Mankato East in Thursday’s tournament finals. The Eagles beat the Cougars 7-3 on Saturday.
Forest Lake is again the Class 4A leader.
