It’s the middle of January, but it’s been a busy few days for players from the state Class 2A champion Jackson County Central football team.
From the Class of 2026, one athlete received another offer and had a home visit from a school that had previously extended an offer, while another had some contacts with a couple of schools.
From the Class of 2025, two JCC players have signed to play at the same school.
Hurricanes offer Voss
The University of Miami became the ninth Power Four football conference school to extend an offer to JCC junior Roman Voss.
Voss made the announcement posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Previous offers have come from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois, California and Kansas.
Miami is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hurricanes had a record of 10-3 this season a 42-41 loss to Iowa State in the Pop Tarts Bowl in Orlando.
Mario Cristobal has been the head coach at Miami for three seasons. The Hurricanes have a 22-16 record under Cristobal and have played in two bowl games.
As a player, Cristobal was an offensive lineman on Miami teams that won national championships in 1989 and 1991. He played under Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson with the Hurricanes.
Cristobal was head coach at Oregon for four seasons, compiling a 35-13 record. The Ducks were 2-2 in bowl games including a 28-27 win over Wisconsin in the 2020 Rose Bowl.
Voss also received a home visit from Wisconsin tight ends coach Nate Letton. The Badgers extended an offer to Voss last summer.
Voss is listed as an Athlete by recruiting services and is being recruited as a tight end. He has played quarterback and receiver on offense and safety on defense for the Huskies, has punted and briefly handled kickoff duties.
Rowe meets with FCS powers
Offensive lineman Weston Rowe has had some recent meetings with two traditional FCS powers
He participated in a Junior Day event at North Dakota State. The Bison were 14-2 this season and won their 10th FCS national title in 14 years.
On Monday, Rowe worked out with Montana offensive line coach Joe Pawlak. The Grizzlies were 9-5 this season.
Last fall, Rowe made a Game Day visit to South Dakota State, which was the reigning FCS national champion at the time. He also had Game Day visits to FBS schools Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota and Iowa.

Two sign with Morningside
JCC seniors Clay Malchow and Tavion Diggs both signed letters of intent with Morningside University last week.
Malchow is projected as a running back with the Mustangs and Diggs was recruited as a linebacker.
Morningside won the GPAC title last season with a 10-0 record and was 12-2 overall.
In the NAIA Football Championship Series, the Mustangs had a first-round bye and then won in the second round before losing in the semifinals to eventual national champion Grand View.
