MAPLETON – The Jackson County Central girls track and field team won the team title at the Section 2A true team meet Tuesday.
The Huskies were first with 779 points, with Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton second with 693. Martin County West was 12th.
JCC’s boys were fourth.
Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet was first with 832 points, followed by Maple River (798.5), Sibley East (724) and JCC (685). MCW was 13th.
Jackson County Central’s girls had five second-place finishes.
Three of those came in individual events, Daysia Tomlin in the 100 meters (13.28), Peyton Hanson in the 300-meter hurdles (49.56) and Rylie Cother in the high jump (4-10).
The other two were in relays. The 4x100 team of Tomlin, Kendra Haar, Payten Benda and Hannah Carson (53.86) and the 4x200 team of Tomlin, Haar, Cother and Elsa Landherr (1:54.18).
Benda was also third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.61) and fourth in the high jump (4-10).
Hanson also had a third-place finish in the pole vault (9-6) and was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.61)
Elsa Landherr placed in three individual events in addition to her relay team as she was third in the long jump (14-7), fourth in the 200 meters (27.62) and fourth in the 400 meters (1:04.67).
Maci Farmer placed in two events, placing third in the long jump (14-7) and fourth in the triple jump (31-8 ½).
Also for the JCC girls, Hannah Carson was fourth in the 100 meters (13.59), Elese Paplow fourth in the 3200 meters (13:13).
JCC’s boys had a 1-2 finish in two events, by the same runners in both events.
Andrew Boyum won the 1600 meters (4:42), with Evan Paplow second (4:43).
In the 3200 meters, Boyum was first (10:13) and Paplow second (10:16).
Caleb Vancura won the shot put (48- ½) and placed second in the discus (141-2).
Gabe Wolff placed third in the 100 meters (11.47) and Ridge Van Westen was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (43.04).
The 4x200-meter relay team of Wolff, Evan Insichenmay, Quinn Landherr was fourth (1:36.91) and the 4x400 team of Van Westen, Insichenmay, Braeden Arduser and Landherr was fourth (3:43.2).
MCW
Katie Hartke had the highest finish for the Martin County West girls, placing third in the 1600 meters (5:43).
For the MCW boys, the 4x800 team placed third and the 4x400 team was fifth.
