Two local athletes will compete in the individual portion of the state Class A gymnastics meet Saturday at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.
Jackson County Central sophomore Clara Brinks will compete on beam and Martin County Area freshman Hannah Cole will compete on vault.
Cole will compete with the other Section 2A vaulters in the first rotation and Brinks and the Section 3A gymnasts will compete on vault in the third rotation.
A freshman, Cole placed third on vault with a score of 9.4 and will compete at the state meet Saturday, Feb. 24 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.
Two individual champions return in search of another gold medal.
North Branch Area junior Dakota Esget will look to repeat on the uneven bars and Perham/New York Mills senior Avery McAllister will go for another balance beam title.
The team competition is Friday and there will be a new champion. Becker won Section 7A, topping defending state champ Big Lake.
Worthington will represent Section 3A in the Class A team competition. It’s the Trojans 15th appearance in the state meet and their 10th straight.
