Jackson County Central junior Ben Dahlin placed in one event in the Class A boys competition at the state track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
Dahlin made it to the finals in the 200 meters Friday and placed eighth with a school-record time of 22.57 seconds. He broke his own record of 22.69 in the prelims on Thursday.
The top eight finishers in the 200-meter finals finished in a span of .43 seconds:

Dahlin also qualified for state in the 100 meters but did not make the finals. He was 11th in qualifying with a time of 11.28.
In the past two school years Dahlin has been part of state competition six times, also making it in football and wrestling.
Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin senior Ryan Pierson competed in the Class A boys 3200 meters at the state meet and placed 12th in a time of 10:05.10.
Pierson also ran in the 3200 at the state meet representing St. James Area in 2022 and placed 13th.
He also ran in three state cross country meets.
The first two were for St. James Area, finishing 28th in 2021 and 12th in 2022. With MCWBO, Pierson placed 19th in 2023.
Caledonia/Spring Grove won the Class A boys team title with Cotter/Hope Lutheran winning for the girls. Luverne was ninth in the boys meet and tied for 10th in the girls.
Fairmont had six entries place in Class AA.
Nelson Remington won three state titles in wheelchair races, winning the 100 meters (16.83), 400 meters (59.43) and 800 meters (2:02.63).
Macy Hanson finished third in the girls 3200 meters (10:53.04) and Oliver Tordsen was ninth in boys discus (153-3).
Also, the Cardinals’ boys 4x400-meter relay team of Connor Gronewald, Jaydon Putney, Blaze Geiger and Nolan Schultze placed ninth in 3:29.53.
