
Four runners from Jackson and Martin County competed in the state cross country meet Saturday at the Les Bolstad University of Minnesota Golf Course in Falcon Heights.
Three participated in the Class A girls race.
Two were from Jackson County Central, with eighth grader Naiya Ayers 51st out of 159 finishers in a 5K time of 20:22.2 and freshman Cora Pauling was 80th in 20:54.8.
Evelynn Christenson, a freshman from Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin, was 84th in 21:00.5.
Big South Conference schools went 1-2 in the Class A boys team race as Redwood Valley was first with 86 points and Luverne second with 91.
Cotter/Hope was the Class A girls winner with 116 points, with Redwood Valley second with 121.
Fairmont's Macy Hanson finished third in the Class AA girls race. The senior had a time of 18:24.3 in her fifth time competing at state.
Marshall won the Class AA boys team title.
