And the Jackson County Central boys basketball team defeated Marshall 63-56. There were seasons where the Huskies didn’t reach double digits and three JCC teams that qualified for the state tournament.
Through it all, Jackson County Central’s boys were not able to capture a win over the school with the largest enrollment in the Southwest Conference and later the Big South Conference.

Erik Hesebeck made two free throws with 14.3 seconds remaining to break a 59-59 tie.
A last-second three-pointer was missed by the Tigers and the Huskies were 61-59 winners to end a streak of 45 straight losses to Marshall.
JCC scored the first nine points Friday and led 31-26 at halftime. Marshall led 57-46 with 4:11 remaining before the Huskies came from behind late.
An 11-0 run capped by a Christian Benda three-pointer tied the game at 57. The game was tied again at 59 before Hesebeck was fouled and made the free throws that gave JCC its lead.
Two Huskies had double doubles.
Travis Rogotzke scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Roman Voss had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Hesebeck also recorded two steals. Voss had four assists and four steals.
Weston Rowe also scored eight points, Benda six, Tyler Hendricks five and Grant Freking one.
The win moves the Huskies to 12-7 on the season. They’re back on the court Monday at Southwest Minnesota Christian.
JCC has road games at Southwest Minnesota Christian Monday and Redwood Valley Tuesday before hosting Pipestone Thursday.
