Lucas Larson threw a four-hit shutout over six innings as the Martin County West baseball team ended a five-game losing streak with a 10-0 win over Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s in a nonconference game Tuesday at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex.
Larson, a senior, did not walk a batter and struck out four as the Mavericks improved to 3-7 on the season. The Knights are 7-7.
MCW scored two runs in the first inning, three in the third, four in the fourth and ended the game early with a run in the sixth.
Cam Meyer was on base three times as he had two hits and was hit by a pitch for the Mavericks.
Maddex Faber had a double and walked and Jerry Olson had a hit and walked. Preston Cepress and Brenan Ringnell also had hits for Martin County West.
The Mavericks play at St. James Area at 7 p.m. Friday as part of a tournament. The Saints are 10-2 heading into a Thursday doubleheader at Luverne.
