SPRINGFIELD – Third-seeded Windom topped second-seeded Jackson 5-3 in the sub-district American Legion baseball tournament Friday at Riverside Park. Earlier in the day, Windom had defeated Heron Lake-Okabena 13-3 in five innings.
Jackson Post 130 scored single runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings.
Payton Handevidt started Jackson’s scoring with a triple and he was able to score on a overthrow to third. Bryson Powers and Trey Rossow also scored runs for Jackson.
Cameron Scholten had two hits for Post 130, with Handevidt and Powers each having one.
Windom Post 206 scored three in the second, one in the third and one in the seventh.
Logan Butzon pitched all seven innings for the Tarantulas, allowing only four hits.
“We had chances to score but made some running mistakes and also had a few errors that cost us runs,” said Post 130 Coach Blaise Jacobsen.
The Tarantulas will play Mountain Lake in an elimination game at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
