
Jackson County Central and Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin will be among the 12 teams competing in the Section 2A South Sub-Section track and field meet Thursday at Wells Concrete Stadium in Wells.
Competition starts at noon with the girls pole vault getting underway. The boys will start after the girls.
The remainder of the field events start at 3:30 p.m., with the track events to start at 4:30 p.m.
The top eight Individuals and top four relay teams advance to the Section 2A meet at Todnem Field at Mankato West High School on Saturday, May 31.
JCC has four athletes (two boys and two girls) with state meet experience who will be looking to take the first step toward another trip.
Ben Dahlin qualified for state in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. On Thursday at the sub-section meet, he’s scheduled to compete in the 200 meters and on the Huskies’ 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
Clay Malchow ran on JCC’s 4x200 relay team at the state meet and he’s slated to be on that team again Thursday. He’ll also compete in the 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles.
Two JCC girls competed at state in 2023 and would like to get back after not making it last year.
Rylie Cother competed in the 100 hurdles and long jump two years ago. On Thursday she’ll compete in those two events as well as high jump.
Also, Natalia Botello-Ramos ran on the 4x200 team at state in 2023. This year, she’s on the 4x100 and 4x200 teams and will also compete in the 100 meters.
