Sherburn native Carsen Musser made his debut in goal for the Madison Capitols Friday and recorded the win as Madison defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers 7-2 as part of the USHL’s Fall Classic in Pittsburgh.
Musser made 18 saves on the night.
He stopped all six shots he faced in the first period and then let one by on a rebound in the second period but remained at a 12-13 rate through two periods.
In the third, Musser was able to stop all but one of the Buccaneers’ seven shot attempts.
The Capitols then won 2-1 on Saturday to start the campaign 2-0. Madison shares first place in the Eastern Conference of the USHL after the first weekend of the season with the Green Bay Gamblers and USA Hockey NTDP.
Next for the Capitols is the home opener Friday vs. the Waterloo Black Hawks Friday night. Madison is then at the Lincoln Stars Oct. 7-8.
