
Carsen Musser played in three games this week at USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp/World Junior Summer Showcase at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
Players from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden took part in practices, scrimmages. The event is part of the process to select the roster for the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship later this year.
USA Hockey had two teams that played two games apiece to start the event before cutting down to one team to play three more.
The White squad defeated Finland 3-2 and Sweden 2-1.
The combined USA team then lost to Finland 5-3 and Sweden 7-5 before beating Canada 5-4 in a shootout.
Musser, a Sherburn native, played 78 minutes, allowing two goals on the 19 shots he saw. He had a goals against average of 1.54 and a save percentage of .895.
He’ll be a freshman at Colorado College this fall.
Musser was a sixth-round pick (166th overall) of the-then Arizona Coyotes in 2023. The franchise has relocated to Utah.
Musser was a participant in the team’s Development Camp earlier this month.
He compiled a 2-0 record with a goals against average of 0.75 and .947 save percentage in two games for the gold-medal winning Team USA at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Switzerland.
Musser spent last season with the Madison Capitols of the United States Hockey League.
He posted a 17-11-2 record with the Capitols. Musser finished the regular season second in the USHL with a .905 save percentage and fourth with a 2.74 goals-against average.
