Jackson Legion holds off Fairmont
FAIRMONT – Jackson was an 11-9 winner over Fairmont in American Legion baseball Thursday.
Fairmont scored a run in the bottom of the first before the Tarantulas scored two in the third and five in the fifth for a 7-1 lead. The home team plated four in its half of the fifth to close within 7-5. After neither team scored in the sixth, each team scored four in the seventh.
Brennan Runge collected three hits for Post 130 including two doubles, while Trace Michelson had two.
Payton Handevidt had a triple and walked three times. Damien Phaly doubled and walked twice. Bryson Powers and Ben Spaeth also doubled and Logan Butzon had a hit and walked.
Cam Scholten pitched the first six and two-third innings, with Michelson getting the final two outs.
The Tarantulas host Mountain Lake Tuesday.
