FAIRMONT – For the third straight time and the fifth in the last 10 Section AA baseball tournaments, Jackson County Central will play its first-round game at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont.
The South Sub-Section fifth-seeded Huskies, 9-10, will meet fourth-seeded Luverne (13-6) at noon. The winner stays on the field play top-seeded Fairmont (19-2).
JCC opened the 2019 and 2021 tournaments in Fairmont. There was no tournament in 2020. The Huskies also played in Fairmont to start the tourney in 2012 and 2014.
Jackson County Central and Luverne split a doubleheader on May 12 at Wacker Field. The Huskies won the first game 18-5 with the Cardinals taking the second 5-3.
JCC and Fairmont also played a doubleheader in Jackson, with the visitors winning 7-6 and 12-5 in the season opener for both teams on April 4.
South No. 2 seed Windom will host opening day games in the 3AA tourney.
North Sub-Section games will be hosted by top-seeded Paynesville and second-seeded Morris/Chokio-Alberta.
The tournament continues Tuesday with winner’s bracket games at Legion Field in Marshall and loser’s bracket games at The Irish Yard in Milroy and Montevideo.
