LA CROSSE – After changes in locations and pairings, The Class XIX is set to be held Friday and Saturday at La Crosse Center.
After being held in Rochester since its inception in January of 2003, this year’s event was moved to La Crosse just last week with tournament organizers citing ‘unforeseen circumstances.’
Also, several teams have dropped out of the tournament although some replacements were also found.
A total of 30 teams are now scheduled to compete.
Jackson County Central’s first opponent in Bracket B as the Huskies will meet Bolivar, Mo. at 9 a.m. Friday.
The winner of that match faces Liberty, Ariz. at 11 a.m. Liberty has a first-round bye.
The loser of the JCC-Bolivar match goes to the fifth-place match in Bracket B against a team from the lower side of the bracket.
In the first round on the other side of the bracket, Shakopee meets Huntley, Ill. and Northfield takes on Staley, Mo.
Bolivar High School has 909 students in grades 9-12. JCC’s enrollment is 306.
There are four classes of wrestling in Missouri (1-4). Bolivar is in Class 3 and is fifth in the team rankings and has four rated individuals.
Jackson County Central is second in Minnesota’s Class A ratings and has six ranked wrestlers.
The Huskies are 3-0 in duals, while the Liberators are 8-2.
