Jackson's Rhythm of the River festival returns Saturday as a one-day event at Fort Belmont.
There will be seven musical acts on stage for 60-75 minutes apiece throughout the day starting at 11:45 a.m. and wrapping up at 10:15 p.m. The gate will open at 11:15 a.m.
"We are really looking forward to it after missing last year," said ROTR board member Kathy Fransen. "It's going to be a smaller festival than in the past because we're just doing one day. We hope that everything goes great. We have a fabulous lineup."
Some of this year's acts are familiar and some are new to Jackson festival-goers.
"We always love to bring City Mouse back," Fransen said. "They're a Jackson favorite. Another one coming back who has been here in different forms with different bands through the years is Eric Koskinen. "And we have some new musicians and we're excited to show them what Jackson is all about and how many music lovers we have in town."
Here is the schedule for the day:
Rhythm of the River started as a two-day festival at Ashley Park during Jackson's Sesquicentennial celebration in 2006. After that successful event, the committee took some time to regroup and ROTR has been a permanent fixture in Jackson since 2008 although last year's event was canceled due to the pandemic.
Two years ago the event was moved to Fort Belmont.
"We love this up here," Fransen said Friday afternoon as the ROTR committee was setting up for Saturday’s event. "The Fort Belmont board is wonderful to work with. It's such a beautiful setting and when the sun goes down over the stage at night it's just breathtaking."
Tickets are available. They're $20 if purchased on the ROTR website by Friday night. Tickets will be available at the date Saturday for $25. Ages 20 and under are free with a paying adult.
Attendees need to bring a lawn chair.
