Martin County West graduate Brandon Williamson made his third appearance of the spring for the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday in a Cactus League game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers in Goodyear, Ariz.
The lefthander pitched four innings and took the loss for a Reds' split-squad team in a 2-0 setback to Milwaukee. He allowed one run on four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out four.
“My arm feels good, and now it’s about getting some velocity back,” Williamson told The Enquirer. “All of my off-speed pitches are moving how I want them to. I’m able to pitch and move stuff around how I want.
“When I’m throwing that for strikes, it opens up a lot of doors for me,” Williamson said. “Not that it’s Craig Kimbrel’s curveball, but it’s definitely that important to my game.”
