Three firsts

Kosbab wins three events at Tomahawk Valley

The Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin track and field teams both placed sixth in the team standings at the Tomahawk Valley Conference meet in Sleepy Eye Thursday.

The boys had three first-place finishes and Bear Kosbab was part of each.

He won the 100 meters (12.07) and 200 meters (24.00) and ran the final leg of the winning 4x100 team (46.34). Lixon Forsberg, Kale Larson and Lucas Larson ran the first three legs.

The top finishes for the MCW/BO girls were a pair of third-place finishes.

Evelynn Christenson was third in the 1600 meters (6:04.54) and she ran the anchor leg of the 4x800-meter relay. Running the first three legs were Maddison Lyon, Inga Olson and Katelynn Kennedy.

The Mavericks will compete in the Section 2A South Sub-Section meet next Thursday in Wells.
