ST. PAUL – Hanna Geistfeld of the Bethany Lutheran College women’s basketball team has been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the third straight year.
The Truman native was a 6-foot senior with the Vikings.
She capped her career by becoming the 20th player in NCAA Division III history to reach both 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
Geistfeld helped Bethany to a share of its third straight UMAC regular-season championship as she led the conference in points per game (29.2), rebound (15.1) and field goal percentage (64.5).
She leads NCAA Division III in field goals made (261), points (699), free throw attempts (215) and scoring (25.9 per game). Geistfeld is second in the nation in double doubles (19) and free throws made (169), while her 351 rebounds are fourth and her 13.0 rebounds per game rank ninth.
Geistfeld earned UMAC Player of the Week nine times, was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week five times and was the U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Week three times.
