Martin County West handed then-Class 1A fifth-ranked Sleepy Eye United its first loss of the season 16-8 Friday in Sherburn.
The Mavericks won their third straight and are 3-3 on the season while SEU is 5-1.
Sleepy Eye scored first with 8:29 remaining in the first quarter with Caden Evers throwing a 23-yard touchdown pass to Austin Uecker. Uecker ran in the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.
MCW pulled even with 2:14 to play in the second quarter when Larson threw a 37-yard TD pass to Berent Kosbab. Rylan Cutler ran in the conversion to tie the game a 8-8 at halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Martin County West scored the game-winning points with 7:11 to go as Cutler scored on a nine-yard run and then Larson hit Jacob Wilmes for the two-point conversion.
Cutler rushed for 146 yards. Larson was 4-for-8 passing for 88 yards and rushed for 21 yards. Kosbab caught three passes for 88 yards.
On defense, Riley Allen had nine tackles and two quarterback sacks. Wilmes, Colby Schwichtenberg and Cameron Meyer each recorded five tackles.
MCW is at Springfield (5-1) in a 7 p.m. kickoff Thursday.
