Jackson County Central clinched at least a share of the Big South Conference Small School Division title Thursday with a road sweep of Redwood Valley, winning 15-0 in four innings in the first game and 10-0 in five innings in the second.
Hadley Wachal pitched a shutout in the opener, with Mady Wachal following suit in the nightcap. Hadley struck out four in four innings and Mady fanned six in five.
Lauren Johnson had three hits in the first game, while Kinley VanDeVere, Mady Wachal and Miley VanDeVere each had two.
Johnson collected three more hits in the second game for six in the doubleheader. Kinley VanDeVere, Mady Wachal, Bailey Finck and Brielle Tufvesson each had two hits.
The Huskies are 13-2 overall on the season, while the Cardinals are 5-12.
JCC is 12-1 in conference play, with Fairmont next in the division at 10-2. The Huskies beat the Cardinals in their first meeting and the teams play again Tuesday in Fairmont. The Cardinals have another conference game remaining after playing the Huskies as they are at Windom on Friday, May 16.
