Jackson County Central advanced seven wrestlers to the quarterfinals of the state Class 1A wrestling tournament out of the first round today at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
First-round winners will wrestle in the quarterfinals that are part of the next session that starts at 4 p.m.
Losers of first-round matches will have to wait to see if they enter the wrestlebacks. If the wrestler they lost to wins their quarterfinal match they’ll have a chance to compete in the wrestlebacks and could still place as high as third in the tournament.
That applies to Kayden Eller (106) and Trey Rossow (160). Benjamin Dahlin (126) and Dylan Withers (170) defaulted out of the individual tourney due to injuries sustained in the team championship match vs. Caledonia/Houston Thursday night.
