Two state-ranked football teams match up Friday when Jackson County Central hosts Pipestone. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Swearingen Field.
The Class 2A fourth-ranked Huskies are 6-0 after a forfeit win over Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial last week. The ninth-ranked Arrows are 5-1 after a 27-20 loss to Luverne. The Cardinals scored all of their points in the second half.
Pipestone’s offense is led by senior quarterback Kellen Johnson, who attempted 35 passes in each game vs. JCC last season.
In the regular-season game he completed 23 passes for 409 yards and four touchdowns in a 32-14 Pipestone win. In the Section 3AA championship game Johnson completed only 16 passes for 211 yards in a 34-28 Arrows win.
Friday’s winner apparently will have the inside track on the number one seed in Section 3AA. Minnesota Valley Lutheran is also in the mix with a 5-1 record as the Chargers play at Murray County Central Thursday.
Jackson County Central will close out its regular-season schedule at home Wednesday vs. St. Peter.
