Martin County West’s two competitors at the state Class A boys golf tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker both finished in the top 20 in a field of 86 golfers.
Junior Hunter Schmidt carded a second-round 72 today (Wednesday) after his first-round 71 to finish with a 36-hole total of 143. That was four shots behind medalist Cole Witherow of New Life Academy of Woodbury (69-70 – 139).
Senior Mitchell Weber shot an 82 Wednesday after a first-round 74 for a 156 total, finishing in a five-way tie for 15th place.
Lakeview won the Class A boys team title, while Lac qui Parle Valley won the girls crown.
In the Class AA girls tourney, Fairmont senior Anika Haugen tied for 21st (85-80 – 165).
