Pat Garvin was named men’s basketball Coach of the Year in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference this past week. It’s the second straight year he has received that honor.
The Jackson County Central graduate is the head coach at Bethany Lutheran College, which was undefeated in UMAC regular season play with a 14-0 record and then won two games to win the postseason tournament for the second straight year.
That gave the Vikings the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III tournament, where they lost at Wisconsin-Platteville in the first round on Friday.
Here is Pat and some players following the game with Platteville.
BLC ends the season 24-4.
Garvin has been the head coach of the Vikings for four seasons, compiling a 67-25 record (.728).
