Everett AquaSox left-handed starting pitcher Brandon Williamson has been named the Seattle Mariners' Pitcher Prospect of the Month for May by the website prospectinsider.com.
The Martin County West graduate, a second-round pick in 2019, Williamson struck out 26 of the first 52 batters he faced over three short-scripted outings to start the season.
In his fourth start, he struck out 13 of 25 batters, allowing two hits, a run and a walk on 90 pitches, 75 for strikes. He struck out the side of nine pitches in the third inning.
In 20 innings over four starts, Williamson struck out more than half of the batters he has faced (39 of 77). He's allowed only 18 baserunners on nine hits, seven walks and two hit batters.
He's been particularly tough on left-handed batters, allowing just four hits in 22 chances, an .091 average.
